My “Why”

Navigating your health journey with Dr. Google, seven-minute physician appointments, and no collaborative support as you enter later stages in your life is not the care you deserve.

I have watched cherished elders get delayed healthcare, been misdiagnosed, or neglected by the current systems in place that define conventional care.

While I advocate for patients to get routine check-ups with their medical doctor, follow screening guidelines and complete lab investigations, this won’t get you beyond the “line of fine” when it comes to your wellness.

I want you to feel your very best and be able to:

  • sleep soundly without hot flashes and sweating through your sheets,
  • have great diet strategies in place for figuring out your cholesterol and blood pressure without having to track every calorie,
  • feel confident in your ability to exercise and move for your physical and mental well-being,
  • making sure you are only taking supplements you actually need that don’t hinder or interact with your pharmaceutical medications,
  • remember fondly and be able spend time with your loved ones on your own terms.

Clinical Focus

I love collaborating with patients on their goals as they enter new eras in their health journey. My personal and clinical experience has nurtured my passion for treating those interested in “healthy aging” so they can not just survive but thrive in their pursuits.

I focus my practice in the following:

  • Digestive health – IBS, heartburn, GERD, chronic constipation
  • Cardiovascular health – high blood pressure, cholesterol, & blood sugar
  • Neurological health – Migraines, Parkinson’s disease, adjunct cognitive decline support
  • Vestibular health – Meniere’s disease, vestibular migraines, BPPV
  • Thyroid Management – I am Dr. Katie Rothwell’s thyroid associate and have been trained and mentored by her

I employ a variety of evidence-based therapies including nutrition and lifestyle counseling, exercise, supplements, botanical medicine and acupuncture to help you feel your best so you can pursue your passions no matter what age!

My Strategic Approach to Your Care

As a naturopathic doctor, I am fortunate to be able to dedicate time and energy to my patients, which allows me to get to know you and get to the bottom of your individual health concerns.

I have designed a unique approach when treating my patients that involves three phases of care: the exploratory phase, active phase, and maintenance phase.

The Exploratory Phase is the beginning of our work together and encompasses an initial consultation plus one follow-up appointment where we dive into your health history, take pertinent physical exams, run investigative lab work and establish achievable goals for your care. You will receive treatment “walking out the door” of both appointments with a timeline for what to expect for how we work together, as well as pillars of health that need to be addressed.

The Active Phase is the next step of your journey where we meet to optimize your pillars of health established during the Exploratory Phase. These recommendations are tailored to you individually and can take time to implement – health is a life long journey after all! This phase consists of two types of appointments: extended follow-ups that allow me to get all of the details of how you are doing plus shorter check-in appointments to touch base and help coach you through barriers you’re facing when it comes to your health.

Once you and I both feel your goals of care have been met and your pillars of health have been optimised, you will graduate to the Maintenance Phase of your care. This is an exciting part of your journey as you’ve got the strategy and all of the tools in your toolbox when it comes to feeling your best, but touching base with me periodically in short follow-up appointments can help you stay the course. If you feel like you’ve got a newer concern or major health update you want support with, you are welcome to book an extended follow-up appointment any time.

Let’s get started!

If you are interested in collaborating together but still not 100% if naturopathic medicine is for you, I strongly encourage you to book in for a complimentary meet-the-doctor session with me to help you gain clarity around your decision-making process.
