Dr. Katie Rothwell ND
Hi, I’m Katie, and I’m Your Thyroid ND.
I’m a Naturopathic Doctor with a clinical focus on thyroid conditions and Hashimoto’s Disease. My goal is simple: to cut through the noise and offer real, evidence-based solutions for thyroid health – no fluff, no BS.
Why Thyroid Health?
1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with a thyroid condition in their lifetime. I experienced this firsthand when, just a year into my practice, I was told I had Hashimoto’s disease. That moment was a turning point for me, driving a pursuit of deeper knowledge about thyroid health that goes far beyond the typical “take a pill and move on” approach.
Through ongoing education, research, and over a decade of clinical experience, I’ve developed a comprehensive, science-backed approach to treating thyroid issues. I don’t believe in band-aid solutions or pushing people through the same outdated protocols that leave many feeling stuck, exhausted, and unheard.
If you’ve been told your thyroid levels are “normal,” yet you still feel exhausted, have trouble losing weight, struggle with mood swings, digestive problems, or chronic pain—you’re not alone. And more importantly, you’re not out of options.
My other clinical focuses include perimenopause, menopause, and menopausal hormone therapy. You can read more information about my approach HERE

Patients often come in confused due to conflicting advice from their medical doctors, naturopaths, and the online world. While one may recommend lifelong medication (and nothing else), the other may advocate for avoiding meds, and instead trying a thyroid supplement or extreme dietary changes. Patients (just like you) can quickly can become overwhelmed, uncertain, and frustrated.
This approach doesn’t work. Patients are not feeling heard OR getting better. It’s time for something different.
The ideal thyroid care model combines the best of both worlds, with an evidence-based, individualized approach that looks at the full picture of health. This has been my life’s mission as a Naturopathic Doctor.
The Game Plan: No Fluff, Just Results
Our work together starts with understanding the full picture of your health, not just looking at a single thyroid number.
At your first visit, we’ll take a deep dive into your symptoms, health history, previous testing, medications, nutrition, and the factors that may be affecting how you feel. I may recommend more comprehensive thyroid and nutrient testing, along with any additional investigations that can help us better understand what’s going on.
Once we have the information we need, we’ll meet again to review your results in detail. I’ll explain what they mean, how they fit together, and what we can do about them. You’ll leave with a practical, evidence-informed treatment plan tailored to your symptoms, health history, goals, and individual needs.
Thyroid health can be complex, and there is rarely a one-size-fits-all solution. My approach looks beyond the thyroid itself to consider the bigger picture, including nutrition, metabolic health, hormones, digestion, sleep, stress, and other factors that may be influencing your symptoms.
As a member of the Canadian Menopause Society, I also have advanced training in menopause and Menopausal Hormone Therapy (MHT/HRT), allowing me to support women through the hormonal changes of perimenopause and menopause, especially when thyroid and menopausal symptoms overlap.
If you’ve been told your thyroid is “fine,” but you still don’t feel like yourself, I’m here to help you figure out what may be missing. My goal is to give you a clearer understanding of your health and a realistic plan for moving forward – no nonsense, no gimmicks.
