For centuries, plants have been used for their healing properties and are in fact the foundation of modern pharmacology. As a result, ample research has been done on the safety and effectiveness of botanical medicines. Single herbs or herbal combinations can be prepared based on individual needs and concerns.

Herbal teas are the most common way to use herbal medicine at home.  Here a a few to try out!

Winter warm up tea – great for when you’re feeling a little under the weather!

Add to a not-quite-boiling cup of water:

  • grated cinnamon stick (or just use it as a stir stick)
  • grated orange zest
  • an inch of licorice root
  • splash of lemon juice

Digestive tea – great to serve after Turkey dinner!

Add to a not-quite-boiling cup of water:

  • grated ginger (I keep mine in the freezer so that this is easy – just peel and grate)
  • grated lemon zest with a splash of lemon juice
  • pinch of ground cloves or 4-6 whole cloves
